Both teams are gearing up for the 2010 tournament in South Africa, and Argentine’s coach Alfio Basile has firmly stated his wishes, "Argentina's target is to win the World Cup, that's the end of the matter," he told the press. "Argentina has amazing prestige, the team is admired all around the world and that makes us very proud. But we want to win the World Cup," he added.

Barcelona director Txiki Begiristain, “Our objective is to have all our players ready for pre season and that includes Messi.” However, Messi has stated, "I am going to the Olympic Games whatever may happen. "The truth is though that I do not know how we can resolve things, but there is no doubt that I will be there.In other news, fellow Argentinean player, Inter Captain Javier Zanetti ,eyes Messi as a possible addition to the club in the future.” Now it's hard for him to leave Barcelona, but in the future things could be different. If he were to leave Spain I believe it would be to come to us,” Zanneti told the press.
